Who I used to be
The person I used to be is not the person I am. Sometimes the realization of this fact is positive. Sometimes the moment of truth is not so pleasant. Every now and then I have opportunity to contrast these two people – me then and me now, and I realize that in the comfort of who I have become, maybe I have lost some of who I was. In the growing awareness and confidence of myself, I lose the perspective of others. My confidence to voice my own thoughts and be the person I am drowns my ability to perceive the sensitivities of others.
Some things remind us that when we are complacent with ourselves, we stop growing. Some just re-affirm the people we know we are, and some surprise us with whom we can be. But all of these are meant to remind us that who we really are, is who we choose to be.
