The Christmas Cliché
I opened up the newspaper
On a bright Christmas morn
The news was not what angels sang
Of glad tidings and sweet song
Silent night, Holy night; let’s sing this Christmas day
We’ll go to church and celebrate another Christmas cliché
Innocent people had died
Politics had been played
Disaster had struck the earth
There is a God, you said?
Hark now hear the angels sing, a King was born today
The star, the sweets, the Christmas tree, all part of this cliché
We’re waiting for the world to change
Where’s the Saviour who will lead
We’re tired of the way things are
Will someone please pay heed?
A ray of hope flickers in the night, a tiny star lights up way up high
All across the land dawns a bright new morn
This comes to pass when a child is born
Christmas isn’t a promise to change the world; it’s a promise to change you. It isn’t the answer to the problems of today; it’s the hope for a better tomorrow.
Christmas isn’t Christmas till it happens in your heart.
May the peace and warmth of Christmas touch your life.
May the peace and warmth of Christmas touch your life.
